My name is Julie Luna. I am a twenty year old college student-athlete at Golden West College. At Golden West I am on the swim and water polo team. I have been playing water polo for fourteen years and swimming since I was eight months old. Water polo has always been my main sport. As I was a part of the Olympic development program for seven years. Before Watersafe, I worked at Grace Christian elementary through eighth grade. I also coached mini water polo and helped out my old high school team. I attended Wilson High School as well as played and participated on the swim team all four years
What's the most rewarding aspect of coaching?
The most rewarding aspect of coaching for me is being able to witness my kids grow not only as swimmers but young thriving individuals. Swimming does much more than get people in shape physically but as well, mentally. I love being able to see my kids each day and be apart of their lives as well as have them apart of mine.
Who do you aspire to be like?
I do not aspire to be like anyone else but myself. I strive to be the best version of myself each day. I believe that everyone is different in their own unique way so we should only strive to be our best selves and no one else.
